Club Volunteering DutiesThe Hornets are unable to function without the help and support of parents acting as volunteers to help our Tuesday club nights. If we do not have enough volunteers on club ngihts to provide assistance then the club night may have to be canncelled due to lack of support. The club to function properly on club nights will need the following to be carried out: REFEREE: Ensures that the race is swum fairly and oversees the conduct of the meet. NOMINATIONS: Is responsible for taking nominations and processing them in the computer and preparing the club night race sheets. EQUIPMENT & OFFICALS COORDINATOR: Responsible for ensuring that all equipment and officials are in place to ensure an on time start. ANNOUNCER: Is responsible for ensuring that competitions are made aware via the microphone of what event is next being marshalled. CHECK STARTER: Is responsible for ensuring that the right competitor is in the right lane in the right event. Also required to call out handicaps for handicap events. STARTER/ JUDGE: Is in charge if starting the event with the starting device andrecording the places of the competitors at the finish of the event. CHIEF TIMEKEEPER: Collects the times from each of the timekeepersand maintains statistics such as start and finish time. RECORDER: Verifies the times and judges placings to provide the offical results and then place these offical results into the computer. TIMEKEEPERS: Required to record the time of the swimmer in their lane with stopwatch and provide time to the Cheif Timekeeper, may also be required to record splits in distance events. Based on the families in the club, we have established a roster wherby parents are rostered on for 3 consectutive club nights and then a 3 week break. The roster is designed to cross train as many parents as possible to learn as many duties at possible. This enables the club to funcion without dependency on the smae individuals who genourously give so much time. Additionally when the club competes in Interclub Team Competition, there is an expectation for all parents to be on a roster for timekeeper and other duties. Where Kwinana swimmers enter Individual Competitions and the host organisation has Kwinana rostered for duties, it is the onus of those attending parents to establish a half hour continuous rotating family roster. All of the above information is reviewed and renewed reguarly. If you need further details please email a member from the contact us page, they will be happy to help!
